Podcasts & Books
The End of Sport
I know the name of this podcast may turn you away as someone who is probably obsessed with sport, but if you truly “love all things sport related” than this is an important podcast to pay attention to. It offers a scholarly perspective and sometimes episodes require additional background research to get a complete understanding of the issues being discussed, but the amount of research based knowledge that is shared on this podcast is really amazing.
Edge of Sports
Dave Zirin hosts this podcast and has amazing guests discussing sport and sport related topics. Zirin has been writing for years about the intersection of race, sport and politics and this podcast captures a lot of the same elements from his writing. He has a good number of books that you can check out as well that offer great insight on topics in sport that aren’t as widely discussed as they should be.
Burn It All Down
You might think the name of the podcast would suggest that these women aren’t for sport, but in fact they are obsessed and want to reimagine the space completely. The conversations they host and guests they invite create conversation to explore what we can to do improve the space of sport. This is a mix of scholarly perspective and a lot of fun. All five hosts are brilliant and great follows on Twitter.
